I checked the archive on waiver bids to see what a typical bid was on the first
round of waivers. Yet I cannot set a bid beyond 4 value. Why is that? Or
what am I doing wrong?

Are you a brand new owner, Gene?
I believe that first-season head coaches have a limit on the amount they can
bid on a player.

Yeah I am, that explains it then. Well waiver day will be a let down then for
sure.

Not so fast there Gene. I assume you're referring to ICSA tomorrow?
If so, we only have Ryan Perdue (Portsmouth) and me (Arsenal), along with you,
as the only active coaches in the entire league!
The waiver wire is loaded, so you'll be able to land some All Star players for
under that $4 mil, unless Bob-coached teams bid high. Especially considering
that Ryan's team is absolutely loaded already, and mine is ranked 2nd in team
talent (although I'd like to sign a few). But there's so many A-A players
alone, not even considering the other great players available, that we all
should be able to strike it well.
Shoot...if I had paid closer attention to see that we only have 3 active
coaches, I wouldn't have scurried around signing some of my players at the last
minute!
Geesh...we gotta get some new active coaches in here!
Anyway, good luck to you tomorrow (and to you too Ryan, although I owe you a
butt-kicking!) ;)

Gene-go ahead and bid for those players anyways, up to your limit; and then
make a separate list of ALL the players youd like to sign, offering them a
minimum contract of for one year- "The Bucket".
The actual minimum contract is 0.04, I usually offer 0.10. If those big names
slip through and nobody offers them a contract, they will drop into your
bucket. These will be "rent a players" that you will get for one season, and
usually they wont be willing to negotiate with you at season's end. Ive picked
up quality players in several Del leagues this way; its a good way to get some
talent on a limited budget.

Absolutely.
A lot of the "oldies but goodies" seem to always fall to those minimum bids,
even in full leagues. And in this case there could be some stars go untouched.

Yeah guys...we gotta get the word apread to bring in some real human
