In a recent game

R.Baker 1 90 0 1 1 2 0 0 7 0 1 0 0 0 FD
G.Lukach1 90 3 0 6 16 12 0 10 0 6 3 0 0 FD

Lukach fired 16 shots while Baker fired only 2. My opponent was playing zone.
My thought, why all the shots to Lukach?

Baker is a superior scorer. Needed is listed as a "shooter"

Baker was on the Left, but I don't see my opponents defense that unbalanced
that I would be forced to that side. Just wondering if anyone can see any
obvious reason why Lukach took all the shots.

It's just a matter of luck, he probably just had a good game that day. I will
look at it more in details when I get home

I always assumed if Baker was set to Left

and Lukach was set to ANY, Lukach would play RIGHT.

is that wrong?

yes, that would be wrong, he would be set in the most appropriate position for
him, which in this case with middle and he shot most of the shots.

  X Y
---------------------------
          | |
          -----------

Y will always have more chances than X to shoot. X will pass to Y.

huh,

so when there are only 2 guys on the field they might play left and middle -
with no one on the right?

they don't evenly space across the field?

yes, sadly, that's right AJ. i know you can't do that but the following is just
an exemple :

if you play 6-1-3 and the MF is left, your team might look like that if you mis
select the sides

(A,B) (c,D) (E,F)

(G)

(H,I) (J)
-----------------------
        | |
        ------

or even
(A,B,C,D,E,F) n/a n/a
(G) n/a n/a
(H,I,J) n/a n/a
-------------------------------

i'm sending you a proposition by email in a few minutes, take some time to
consider it.

AJ's right. If there are two forwards, one is set LEFT and one is set ANY, the
ANY guy will play on the right side.

In general, positions are always fairly evenly spread out across the field.
