12: Huskies 3, at Celtic 2

I have a man advantage for about 80 minutes, give up 3 goals and lose this
game. So yes, Im kind of annoyed at the moment.

However, Im interested to hear what some more experienced coaches might suggest
to avoid tanking games like this.

Serge has always been very good preparing his team, he is a very skilled
tactician, and he knows the sim in and out, plus he is on top of the league
right now. He has a well balanced and talented team in place. having a one man
advantage for 80 min doesnt automaticly mean you are going to win, he proabably
has a counter plan when this happens (I actually know for a fact he does). You
do have a good team for a first year team, but serge has a very good team as
well, and it's no surprise that he is on top of the league.

There is much more detailed explanation i can give. and another thing as well,
dumb luck might have played in as well, though this is not a determening factor
in my opinion.

Well that Hamilton is a heck of a player. Doesnt seem to be too many ways to
stop him . . .

red, i can understand the way you feel. situational coaching is a very
important part of soccer and a change in the game style in the last minutes
when losing is completly normal. your team had the perfect defensive system to
stop my normal situation coaching, but not the offensive one, which is
completly different. this is why my team started scoring. i have sent a press
release giving advices to all coachs, have you read that one? i think you have
very talented players and you just need time to discover that del soccer and
real soccer aren't the same. are you disapointed in your team's results? you
shouldn't be, i have never seen a coach start this strong. i have played soccer
for more than 15seasons on this site, and i'm telling you, people will leave
efa because you became too strong one day. in my previous press release, in the
last few ligns, i said, if any coach would like a more detailed analysis of his
team, just ask me, and i'll gladly help. i almost read all pbp, and i have a
list of all the situations of all the teams (average values) and i have a very
clear idea of all teams' options too. i am a bit of a freak, but that is just
me. if you would like me to take a closer look at your team, i'll be happy to
help.

Serge-

Hmmmm. Theres a lot in your post to comment on :-)

First, Im not at all disappointed with my team's results for the season; in
fact I'm quite shocked that I started out as well as I have-especially with my
limited knowledge of soccer in general. My disappointment was in the results of
that particular game, particularly that I couldnt take advantage of a situation
that was very favorable to me.

One thing you are very correct about-Del soccer is not like real life soccer!
Im already learning that certain tactics seem to be much more effective then
one would expect them to be. Maybe my lack of soccer knowledge is an advantage
in that respect.

As for your press release, I did indeed read it, and now I can see what you
were getting at in your analysis of my team. I will email you, as soon as I can
put together some coherent questions :-)

For the record-I am really glad I took a chance and signed up for EFA; it might
not be totally "realistic" in all things, but it is a lot of fun. I already
paid for next season, so you know I will be around for a bit.

i could start by giving you big points about your team if you wish.

i am happy to know that you will be playing a few seasons in efa, but if that
is really the case, here a first advice. cut all your minor team and build a
decent young team not just a bunch of average old players you want to keep from
others. minor teams are very important and its management effects a lot your
future finances.

in today's game, i have beaten the panzers with a player out for 80 minutes :)

one things for sure: this sim has not much to do with real soccer. i consider
myself to know quite a fes things about real life soccer since I covered games
for my employer for 20 years now, starting in 7th and 8th divisions games and
meanwhile havinbg written about (and seen of course) germanys best, including
national team as well as champions league or cup final. but i have not grasped
this sim, i think mainly because i am trying to copy real soccer.
one huge difference f.e. is: here almost everyone changes pace and formation
when trailing. in real life most teams have started to continue with their
prefereed system, stay patient and try to play what they can best in order of
the old "give up on the sweeper, substitute two defenders by two more
forward"-tactics. you still get to see it, but not as one used to be. so f.e. a
sim should reflect a team sticking to it's normal system since this is the play
they do best.

you don't have to change, it's the coaches option in DEL right?

I agree teams don't change formation that often, except maybe late in the game-
they will change pace a bit though if down with time running out, or if trying
to burn out a final few minutes.

The part I take issue with right now is I have trouble evaluating my players,
mostly because my defenders don't have stat for "intercepting" passes- and
that seems rather important...

i don't agree on that. i think that it depends on coachs. i hope you don't play
the same tactics against the celtic (heavy defense) and bantams (heavy
offense). i know that i am a freak, but i do chose players and tactics based on
opponent. you can't play slow players against red stars, and can't play low
ball control players against nationals. i just guess this is personal.
