a couple of questions, and comments from a new coach

1) after a little research, I'm thinking guys with low puck control are
worthless, and unless your above 6 your not very good. I'm a little suprised
aggressiveness and checking ability aren't a little more of a factor when
pursuing loose pucks.

2) why is intelligence so important for hits? Shouldn't that be
aggressiveness, checking and skating?

3) is the CHECKING attribute totally worthless? I doesn't seem to be relevant
to anything. I figured it would be a factor in hits per 60 min, or loose
pucks, or something... however, at best it's very minor compared to other
attributes apparently?

just trying to makes sense of how to enjoy hockey.

PC is not the be-all attribute except for centers (who need it to win
face-offs). You can get away with some players with lower PC, but not too many
of them. My analysis does show that AG and CH are important for winning loose
pucks (along with PC).

I'm baffled a bit by hits too. It makes sense to me that IN is important
(knowing how to line up a hit, not take a penalty, etc.). But I actually show
that smaller values of CH correlate with more hits, which doesn't make any
sense.

Andy/someone mentioned somewhere that CH also represents size/weight, so it
should help with such things as screening in front of the net. My analysis
shows that it is a factor in blocking shots and loose pucks.

I admit my analysis was quick, but when you check the leaderboards for loose
puck% and Hits per 60 min.... checking appears to be insignificant in the
formula.

My analysis was done with stats from the college league, so low attribute
values are more the norm across the league anyway. I used the entire league
stats at the end of the season, so that hopefully anomalies due to coaching,
luck, teammates, etc. are minimized.
