As expected, this time of the year the baseball leagues are filling up, and
there's nowhere to put new coaches. While I'm expecting a fair amount of
turnover in CPBL, I'd also rather not have guys sit on the waiting list forever
to get a team...
So, let's get another newbie baseball league up and running BEFORE there's a
crisis on the waiting list... As usual, the league would be eligible for
inexperienced coaches (3 years or less of pro baseball), and really would
target first-time DEL'ers.
Anyone interested in helping out as a commish? I'll sit in as an assistant
commish for the first few seasons, to help with all the questions that would
come up.

Its been a while since i was in a pro baseball league, i was gonna sign up for
one of the new coaches ones...but aparently I've played 6or7 seasons, didn't
think i had played that much but it was so long ago i couldn't remember. Anyone
have any idea how often spots become available in pro baseball leagues?
I would guess not very often, which is why i'm inclined not to bother signing
up.

Hi Andy,
I'd like to give baseball sim a go. What's the name of the new league?

Great timing! I quit the EPBL about a week ago after getting about 3/4 of the
way through my first season. I felt it would be so hard to get caught up
financially to some of the league veterans. I would definitely be interested
in joining a pro baseball league for new baseball pros.

The league is BBA (bullpen baseball association). Karim and I will be
co-commissioners to start it out.
Feel free to sign up if you meet the 3-year limit on pro baseball experience.
The league is currently in warm-up phase, so teams will be assigned starting
tomorrow or Sunday. The first season initializes on the 19th.

Sounds good to me. I've never played in baseball leagues before. Would be fun
to learn!
Cheers!

Hank, I think you'll enjoy it.
DEL Baseball is fun especially sense there are 162 games and you're playing
every day.

The every day part of it rocks. Multiple games a day.
The advice I would give it this.
Focus on getting 3-4 rock solid starters, 1 rock solid (with great Dr so he can
pitch often) long reliever, 1 solid short reliever and 1 solid closer.
Also try to get your best hitting talent at 2B, SS and 3B. Spend your offensive
money at those positions.
I have always found that there are a lot of outfielders to choose from that
will give you average play for cheap and you can plug anyone really in at 1B.
Catcher I usually look for average offense and a good arm.
Also, I suggest look at a players past stats too. Some guys are rated CC but
pitch consistently with an under or low .300 OBP or consistently hit for decent
average and/or homers and/or have great walk to strikeout ratios (leadoff
hitters). If the pitcher or hitter is under...oh....I'd say 31 then those past
stats carry some weight in my opinion.
Also....I suggest getting a bunch of left handed hitters. They seem to overall
fare better in the sim. However, just as there are great left handed hitters,
being left handed does not make the player a great hitter...but it seems to
help. So be picky.
Hope that all helps.

The biggest thing is, don't be afraid to ask. There are a lot of helpful guys
around.

Ryan said something very important, don't be afraid to ask. Andy and I will
answer all of your questions within 24 hours usually, if it's not him, it will
be me.
Looking forward to creat a great league with each one of you guys.

Hello
Would it be allowed to have an experienced coach as assistent?
bye MJ

Jens, Unfortunatly you can't be an assitant if you have more than 3 years of
experience. But any coach is welcome to seek help from more experienced coaches

Hi guys,
Looks like I can't join BBA... Just remembered that I had a baseball team way
back when DEL was free, even though I never played in it. Can anyway suggest
another baseball league that's more suited to beginners?
Thanks
Hank

Most of them are full currently but all of them have very helpful coaches in
them.
I'd suggest anyone of them although EPBL would probably be overwelming for
someone if you're not familiar with the structure of baseball.
