In CCCL there is (or at least, was) a player named "J. Christ".

He was a B-grade player and someone included him in a trade block, writing:

"J. Christ OLB 25 5 4 7 5 3 2 5 1 16 B OLB

What can I say? Whoever acquires him will be "blessed" with an athlete who
could play linebacker or safety and has room to develop."

Rather funny.

I made up the stats and what he said is a paraphrase, but it was pretty close
to that (what he said anyway, I may remember what kind of player he was very
inaccurately, but it's not a big deal).

Oh, and along the line of religious figures, my CEL team could have its very

I can proudly say that I had the player mentioned earlier named:

J Christ, who was a LB on my CCCL team

Nobody ended up responding to my PR for a trade, so I ended up cutting
him...which could explain my brief stint in the CCCL (lol)!

I'm also the proud owner of:

PG K Moss in CBEL (Clemson)
183 K.Moss PG Gr 7 4 7 8 3 3 2 20 5'11" *S A A PG

Kate was actually a walkon, and turned into an exceptional PG, but is
graduating this season.

I had a WR on my FEL team a couple of seasons back:
D Druff
...obviously his first name was Dan.

Some members of my current CMEL roster:

P.Arnette C Jr 7 4 2 8 6 1 1 2 13 L L
Some of you might not remember, but Peter Arnette gained fame as a reporter for
CNN for the Gulf War.

B.Hill LF Jr 6 3 6 9 3 2 1 1 13 S R
British comedian Benny Hill. He's been gone for awhile, but not where people
think - he's playing baseball in Kansas!

J.Jackson OF So 3 2 4 6 7 2 3 2 13 S R
Well the reverend Jessie Jackson has an awful lot of free time on his hands, so
we gave him a shot in the outfield.

M.Good P Gr 3 8 4 3 1 2 9 3 14 R R
A well-known DEL coach as "Mark", but otherwise known as "Mmmm-mmm" Good for
the Jayhawks.

S.Holmes P Gr 0 8 2 1 5 3 5 4 15 R R
What team would be complete without a popular detective on the
squad...Sherlock.

J.Brown P Gr 5 5 0 2 2 5 4 6 15 R R
James, the Godfather of soul, can pitch a pretty good baseball.

From the IMLB roster:

S.Gould P 25 8 9 0 2 3 1 5 10 22 R R
Solid Gould baby!

M.Kay P 28 0 4 0 1 2 1 9 7 22 S R
A pro pitcher by day, but this dude deals cosmetics by night!

S.Hill C 25r 5 3 6 5 6 4 5 2 15 S R
Where the "Sam Hill" did we get this guy for our minors?

R.Begay P 24r 0 6 2 1 2 5 7 7 20 L L
Hmmm...

From the EPBL roster:
P.Weiner P 33 10 8 2 1 5 2 6 5 24 R R
Uhhh...

P.Parker OF 34r 0 5 8 7 5 3 1 1 21 R R
Peter, the Spectacular Spiderman, is still playing OF in AAA.

T.Perez C 32 3 3 0 10 3 2 1 1 23 L L
Yeah, it's hard to believe that Tony was a member of the original Big Red
machine, and now he's playing AAA ball as a catcher.

taken up hockey.

J.Ritter P 29r 0 3 1 2 1 1 7 6 19 S R

S.Hamilton WR 28 7 1 4 8 3 4 2 2 21 C C WR
OK, time to get upbeat again. I'm sure all DEL'ers absolutely LOVE figure
skating! So here he is...Scotty Hamilton!

That's all for now folks (aawwww). Actually there's still a long list of
others, but I'm afraid I'll get kicked out of DEL if I make this any longer!
lol

So for now it's time for me to "Be done"

I had a cornerback I drafted by the name of "Groinus." Which, of course, meant
that I absolutely HAD to write the following pr when I released him in his
second season.
-------------------------------------

Headline: Groinus cut -- Wichita men horrified

WICHITA, KS -- In a move that sent men throughout the Wichita area wincing in
pain, Wichita Gunslingers CB Ronald Groinus was cut today.

"It was with heavy hearts that we took the knife to our own Groinus," said
owner Randy Oaks. "In his second year, he fought so hard to make the roster for
the first four games. But we had a chance to add some speed to our secondary,
and felt we had to do it. After all his work, it's sad to have to take him out
of the lineup. Believe me, nobody wanted a pulled Groinus less than me."

"It's a painful thing. There were definitely a few tears shed."

The disappointment seemed greatest among the Gunslingers' cheerleading squad,
who apparently have a great fondness for Groinus."

"I'm so sad he's gone," said head cheerleader Tisha. "When I was having a
terrible day, there was nothing that would cheer me up better than a little
Groinus."

In the stadium parking lot, hundreds of sympathetic men gathered in tribute to
a man they somehow all felt a bond with. Wichita fan Stan Dryden explains.

"It's like there was just SOMETHING about him that made us all feel a certain
connection, ya know? And when we heard the news, the reaction was just one of
agony. It's like they didn't just cut one Groinus ... but thousands of Groinus'
all over town."

But tomorrow brings another day, and also another game. And soon, the scars of
a cut Groinus will be healed over ... and forgotten. But for now, the sting
lingers.

I drafted myself today in IBL - and got the headline for the league with the
#106 pick overall!

Draft Round 4

When you're still picking this late in the draft, it will take a minor miracle
to get anyone good. Detroit GM David Rogers may have gotten just that today,
picking Rogers with the eighteenth pick in today's fourth round. In fact, many
analysts expected Rogers's name to have been called at least a round earlier,
and David Rogers was well aware of that fact. "We're lucky, no doubt about it.
We've had our eyes on Rogers for a couple rounds now, but had some bigger needs
at other positions. When today came, though, there was no doubt in our minds."

BUMP!!! Geesh ya'll...leave it to ol' Fat Boy here to retrieve the longest
thread in DEL history from the Archives (where it had been all weekend).

This may be some of my weakest material yet, but whatever it takes to keep this
thread going!

All from the rookie list in EPBL:

1376 A.Lincoln C 18r 0 1 0 1 1 4 1 1 10 L L
Who better to turn to to help save this wonderful thread than ol' Honest Abe
himself! Good thing he was only president because he couldn't pitch if his life
depended on it.

3737 P.Fountain OF 22r 9 5 0 6 4 3 2 1 14 R R
The actual born-on name of this dude was Pat...up until the first time he was
spotted taking a whiz in the pee-wee (if you will) leagues. After that he
simply became known as P.Fountain.

1036 H.Ash P 20r 9 3 3 1 1 1 4 2 13 S R
This feller showed some promise early on, but then developed a bad "social
hobby" involving a pipe, and pulling up to practice with his truck filled with
smoke. His brownies were a smash hit at the team picnic however.

4951 C.Bigwood P 21r 7 2 1 1 5 1 1 4 15 L L
Of course...every season you have to have at least one braggart show up in the
crowd of rooks. This one couldn't figure out why he always got slapped in the
face by a chick when he went to introduce himself to her. "Tee-hee. My name is
Sara, and I'm an empty-headed bimbo...and you are?" "C.Bigwood." SLAP!!!

6103 J.Boxer P 18r 2 2 0 2 4 0 3 1 7 R R
Joe Boxer from K-mart fame. Joe wasn't satisfied having his name plastered all
over a bunch of underpants. So he wanted to try his hand at baseball.

3095 J.Lo P 18r 8 1 0 0 1 2 1 2 7 L L
The multi-talented J.Lo seems to have her big butt everywhere these days (not
too many complaints though).

And finally...after searching thru 9000 rookies, the one player to make it all
worth my while (snnf)...and how appropriate that he would be a relative to the
very first player on this thread...

drum roll...

4699 F.You P 18r 7 0 1 2 2 2 1 1 7 L L

This kid is even more politically correct, as the original was "F.Yoo". So I
may just have found the greatest player name in the history of DEL sports. And
with that, I leave you all with "F.You" on this beautiful Monday morning!
