I have been playing this game for 5 years and still don't feel I have a handle
on the effects of training. I have my standard settings and normal
modifications based on avoiding things that seem to hurt the team's
performance, but am constantly amazed at what the sim recommends I run when I
use the Generate Orders command. For my team this season and against
Northwestern today, the sim recommends that I train as follows:
Pass Offense: 1
Rush Offense: 2
Pass Defense: 0
Rush Defense: 1
Conditioning: 0
Films: 3
I can't see any reason ever to train at 0 for an upcoming game as I've never
noticed a 1 or 2 trainging level, with 6-8 total on each side, to have a
serious impact in how much my subs play - even seasons when I've had a lot of
starters with St=0. Anyone have any thoughts on training to share?

If you ran this against me today, maybe that would tell us more! ;-) I also
usually train in the 6-8 total range. Coach Bob's recommendations might work
for Coach Bob, but I suspect it is because of Bob's other settings not so much
the training. I toyed with conditioning last season, but it isn't clear
whether it has an effect that isn't offset by the additional fatigue.

I train 1 less than the total on every sport for the last several years

I train 6 + con. It works, I have no idea if something else would work better.
I'd really like to know what exactly training does. But when I asked Andy he
said he didn't know and couldn't find out (apparently it would be cheating? Not
sure how that works if he tells everyone else what it does too). When I
pointed out it was retarded to have something where no one has any clue how it
works, he blocked me.

I've put as many as 6 or 7 points into run defense a few times...
I "think" it's helped.
I also know 1 or 2 points in Films = less penalties than 0 in films.
