I hope someone can explain this one to me. Today in recruiting I was going for
a RB after the departure of my star M. Ryan. I thought I had a good chance of
getting this guy:
617 E.Layton TB Jr 5 1 8 4 1 3 2 9 11 -- ------ -S B A TB
considering Washington (4s), Miami FL (4sP), Oklahoma (4sp), Robert Morris
(3sP), S Florida (3sP)
I give him 30 points, a playing time promise (he was slightly doubting it) and
he decided to sign with Robert Morris. It is impossible to think any college
player would prefer to play in a NCAA subdivision team than in a team in the
ACC where he would have started.
I am very upset at this situation because it happens all the time and I do not
think it is fair!!
Can someone explain it to me??

The explanation is simple if not very satisfying: the sim works
probabilistically and even a long shot occasionally will win.
Almost ever thing you did (points, pt promise, etc) enhanced you probability of
getting the guy but it didn't make Robert Morris' probability go to 0. Because
of this, you're better off to spend the extra points on inviting than the
marginal points (the break-even seems to be somewhere above 7, but I'm not sure
where exactly) on recruiting as being visited with a higher "recruit favors"
rating, improves your odds more than the marginal recruiting spend.

Don't feel bad Perez, I didn't get him - or ANY other player. I went after good
players BUT NOT A SINGLE ONE!!! Gimme a frickin' break!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've seen
similar prestige ranked teams go after the same caliber of players with mega PT
promised and it worked for them.
Not a single one.

Let's also do a reality check here.
Robert Morris is a very high 12 prestige.
Miami of FL is a 16, I don't know how high.
If Miami had gotten him, Washington could have screamed just the same as you.
It's the same difference.
Adam -- yours almost sounds like a case of not hitting the submit button unless
you didn't have very many invites.

The question is also, was your bid legal at the right time. If you had him in a
group with many other players and with higher prioritys, maybe you simply didnt
bid on him as his time arrived.

Jens,
I had him alone in a group so that option could not had happen. As stated
above, Miami is a 16 prestige team and Robert Morris is a 12 prestige team. If
we have more or less the same points invested on the player and both of us have
a PT how can he go to Robert Morris. The reason Washington did not get him is
bacause they got another RB so this guy was not their first option.
The player was slightly doubting my PT but if you take a look at my roster I
simply do not understand why he was doubting it.
I have tried harder lately on every DEL game and sometimes these kind of
situations make me go nuts but anyway I will continue to try...

Perez, you did land a B-A WR that presumably was also being recruited by
higher-prestige teams: the same randomness that worked in your favor in one
case worked against you in the other.

The only deciding factor other than randomness is that he didn't doubt any
playing time promise from me. If it wasn't for some randomness, then this sim
would really be boring. Only the high prestige teams would ever be able to get
any good players.

"The reason Washington did not get him is bacause they got another RB so this

How do you know how Washington set their groups up?
I have running backs in more than one group usually, and sometimes the same
player in multiple ones.
