I'm not complaining here - just pointing out something that I think is an issue
(I had a great TC - in my top 7 all time).
The issue is that Wt and St seem to be treated unrealistically in training
camps.
- St: It usually nets out to very little change over the entire roster. In any
organized sport I've ever played, one of the major purposes of training camp is
to improve your stamina after an off season of eating too many rich foods and
not training consistently. I think the algo needs to be tweaked to favor
improvement over decline.
- Wt: These usually net out to very small gains/losses over the entire roster.
As I understand it, Wt represents both weight and strength and if so, it should
be more likely to increase as a player gets older and spends more time in the
team weightroom and with college-level trainers. I also think there should
generally be an inverse relationship between Wt and Sp, at least to the extent
that losing Wt at a position such as WR/TB/DB should lead to a gain in Sp while
the reverse should apply for players going through TC at OL/DL.

You don't lose stamina when the season ends, though.

In my game mind, I consider decreases in St and Wt in the offseason as a
reflection of how hard the player worked in the summer. Some players have
solid workouts and others become lazy and come into the season out of shape (or
had an injury of some sort).
For incoming recruits, I look at the variations as reflection of the inexact
science of recruiting...
