York just had one of the best days I've ever seen with one of
my QB's- why is Cavender's considered better...
because he had one or two long plays? (that really have nothing to do with
passing in DEL)

Yards per attempt trumps everything else when it comes to passer rating. It
measures a quarterback's efficiency, and if you can get more yards in less
attempts, your performance is considered "better."

Is that real life or just DEL's infatuation with average.
I consider 40-45 about as efficient as you can get, 1 long play can distort an
average.
Personally, I shoot for 4-7 yards per pass play and then a couple of these:
Second down, 13 yards to go, ball is at Philadelphia 47, 11:26 remaining.
Offense: 230 Shotgun-Split backs, no TE, WR strong, WR3 in
Defense: 201 Tight 4-3, 2-zone coverage, line stunt
Park (OLB) blitzing
Givens (DT ) drops into coverage.
York (QB) under medium pressure.
York throws 16 yards to WR Paulits (#2 post, open).
Coverage: Jeltema (SF )
Pass easily caught by Paulits.
Paulits sidesteps Jeltema (SF ).
Paulits runs through Carmona (SF ).
Touchdown!

I think DEL uses the real life formula.

DEL uses the real life college formula, I think. The college and pro formulas
are different.

I think CCEL uses the real life college formula, and the pro leagues use the
real life pro formula.

The formula is not perfect, but it is there to reward efficiency, not high
numbers. The situation that you presented shows a flaw in the formula. However,
it is there to show that:
19-24-0 240 yards
is more efficient than:
31-53-0 325 yards
More efficient, not more betterer.

Part of the QB rating is also TDs per pass attempt. So, 4 TDs in 30 attempts
is far better than 5 TDs in 45 attempts as it equates to QB rating.

TD's...
hmmm.. I guess like anything it has it's flaws. You QB can drive down the
field, then you get conservative and it hurts his rating if the RB scores.

That was an impressive game. I wish I could say I was hamstrung by my lack of
talent but the truth is I've paid a lot of money to get lit up like that.

They were a combined 3/31 defending passes and your receivers didn't drop a
single one.

I have some misgivings about that post pass. Yes, you split the safeties in a
cover-2 which is a nice trick. Sadly I didn't have a defensive tackle in man
coverage or I might have batted that one down. Just one of those things...
Anyway, your guys were definitely much, much better. I'll record that pitiful
performance in the team record book and move on.
