This is intended to provide some reference info for newer coaches in response
to a question I get asked via email a couple of times eash season. It isn't a
whinge or refutation of anything anyone else has ever said.
Kansas - tied for #5 prestige in CCEL, #1 prestige in region B
45 in-region invites; 45 out-of-region; 0 no region
18 pt promises (only to 'slightly doubts' (2) and believers)
39 extra points spent
In-region:
36 visits total
AA - no invites
BA - 8 invites, 3 visits; 7 invites with extra point
CA - 14 invites, 10 visits; 2 invites with extra point
Out-of-region:
28 visits total; 22 from invites with extra point
AA - 4 invites, 2 visits; all invites with ptp and extra point
BA - 11 invites, 8 visits; all invites with extra point
CA - 16 invites, 11 visits; 12 invites with extra point
Note 1: this is the best OOR response (62%) I've had in all my years playing in
CCEL partly due to a larger number of CB invites and partly due to randomness
I'm sure. My average response has been <35% visits and I never invite OOR if my
prestige is <18.
Note 2: this is the worst BA in-region response I've ever had while at prestige
19 or 20. My average response has been between 60% and 70%.

Here's the Northwestern results, which I do not track meticulously but which
seem fairly typical.
61 in-region invites; 25 out-of-region; 4 no region
21 pt promises (7 to PK/PN)
56 extra points spent
scholarships offered to alle
In-region: 92%
56 visits
5 no-shows
Out-of-region: 76%
19 visits
6 no-shows
No-region: 50%
2 visits
2 no-shows
Promises: 33%

Jay - thanks for reminding me about a very important point, scholarship offers.
For the last 10 seasons, I offer scholarships to everyone I invite on Day 1.
Always. No exceptions.
When I run out of recruits I think are highly likely to visit me, I invited
in-region reach recruits and then a very limited number of out of region reach
recruits. Reach recruits for me were in-region BA and AA guys who weren't
looking for a ptp (under 19 prestige for BA), CA guys who weren't looking for
ptp (under 17 prestige)/didn't believe my ptps (18-20 prestige). When I was at
lower prestige, CB guys were treated like the CA and CA like the BA guys.
Out-of-region reaches are similar but shifted to reflect the lower probability
of getting visits at any given talent rating.
