Guys,
On many occasions we have discussed on the chat board other simulations and
there has never been any issues in that regard.
But please, out of respect to Andy and DEL, it is not appropriate to discuss
other simulations which do compete with DEL.
I though this was an unwritten rule which everyone knew and respected, and I
have to admit that I was surprised and desapointed to see that it was discussed
so openly when someone else opened a thread in that regard.
Guys, lets have some common sense and not abuse the freedom we have on this
Board.

karim -- I'm assuming that was meant for me since my post about another sim is
gone.
while I have no problem with the rule, there have been many sports simulations
discussed on the board over the years.
I'd list some of them, but obviously that wouldn't make much sense would it :-)

Considering DEL soccer isn't very popular, and is likely low on the list for
upgrades, DEL soccer participants may appreciate learning of a soccer sim with
more players.

Also, considering Oz is a rabid supporter of EPBL, as well as involved in
basketball and college football, it's a shame he's unable to inform DELers of a

I've heard Coke will fire employees who use Pepsi products. It's all part of
the business. I certainly wouldn't want users trying to get other users to go
to other sites that compete with mine. But, that's just me. I never use other
SIM sites, so this thread isn't directed at me, but I understand the concern.
Times are tough and every dollar counts.

I did a lot of research and posted all the results on this forum, and most of
us took part in the discussion.
I still trash whatifsports.com at least once every few months here.. mostly
because it's a horrible SIM but has 10000 users.
If Andy would only let someone add player profiles and some customized team
stuff.
I think Karim's just mad the soccer SIM hasn't seen any work in years, and we
can't keep it full.

Oz, I deleted your post because it was advertising another sport, no hard
feelings what so ever on my end, but I had to do it. Now, I don't recall any
thread talking about other sport sims competing with DEL, and if it did happen,
then it slipped through on my end.
Soccer in DEL is not very popular, you are right guys, but, it is no reason to
advertise competitors. I mean at the end of the day, this is a sport sim which
you pay money to be in it. if you advertise a competitor, you are taking a
chance to see some coaches leave this sim and join the new one, which end up
being a loss for andy.
I work in advertising, so I guess for me it really doesn't make sense to do
this.
William, I work for BBDO, the Ad agency that is world wide aligned with Pepsi,
we do all of the advertising and communication campaigns. Beside the obvious no
coke product allowed in the office, when I go for lunch, I am not allowed to
drink any coke product and usually i avoid sitting at a table with a coke
product. I know its far fledged, but those are client requirements.

When in doubt, it may be a good idea to just send Andy a quick note seeking
clarification.
That shows respect for the site, and also avoids putting Karim in an
uncomfortable position (and we know its only his lover Mo who is supposed to
put Karim in uncomfrotable positions, eh).
Ive asked Andy before about say posting about the EA Sports NFL coaching sim -
Head Coach - to see about finding other del owners to play that with online,
and he was very gracious in rsponding hed be fine with that.
So maybe just check with Andy first?

I like the concept of Coach. I'd join a coach league in a second, I think it
has real potential.

I loved the concept of coach. I think most everyone here would- kind of the
same idea. The execution on the first one was horrible though. 5 flea
flickers a game equals 4 td's at least. 5 minute quarters and the horrible-
hire me now or no shot (can't do other interviews) were just the ones off the
top of my head that were UNACCEPTABLE.

Well I have to disagree (Big Surprise there!) The other SIMs dont ban you from
mentioning DEL. Why is it that we are afraid of? A better SIM? DEL has its
place in my heart, becuz it was here when the others werent. I like some of the
other SIMs and the day I get told that I cant talk about them in a "FORUM" is
the day its time to move on.

Yeah but there is a pretty solid football sim that is a little more visual and
is only getting better day by day. It will NEVER be close to DEL with the
complexity of the SIM, but it is a whole lot mor efun to watch dots run around
on your screen and you get a better idea of what went wrong, or didnt :)
I'm a DELer for life, but I am finding other things to occupy my time.

Your taking it way to personal.
Let me explain it from an owners point of view. I own my own business. Lets say
a customer comes in and asks me about my products and services. I tell them
about them and then they proceed to tell me about the deal that Best Buy is
having, or Circuit City and they ask a bunch of questions about why my services
are Superior and or inferior. Should I......
a) Tell them to get out of my store and never come back
b) Immediately hang a sign outside my door that says "No talking about my
competitors in my store"
c) Leave things the way they are
d) Find a way to make them talk about my products and services
Lets not let this get out of hand, I am NOT attacking anyone personally. I just
feel that people tend to get too defensive about things instead of actually
trying to make it a positive experience. I am not saying that Andys products or
Services are Superior or inferior to the other SIMs. I just think that if i
want to talk to other "Customers" about it that I should be given that right.
As long as I am not bashing or slandering while I am in his "Store'

Anyone remember set theory from math? I don't recall the notation, but from
Dale's post I see:

BTW, I am in another baseball sim, which also has an active forum. I think
they have a prohibition against talking about politics(!!), but not about other
sims. One of the most active threads there openly discusses other sims
including another sim which many of those coaches participate in (and organize
it within that thread). Apparently they are not worried about losing any
business.
