Hey boys. Last Christmas I asked for booze and my friends and family came
through big. Anyhow, I'm looking for some drinks to mix out of these currently
stocked items:

Jack Daniels
Cutty
Cachaca
Amareto
Baileys
Appelton Rum
Johnny Walker Red
Tequilla
Jamaican Rum liquer
Cointreau
Seagrams Whisky
Vodka 3 bottles (what can I say... my wife is Russian)

I'll be sipping on a Bailey's-Milk while I await for your replies.

I'm a big fan of Dark and Stormies: Appelton's and ginger beer.

Go buy a bottle of Blue Curucao and Drink Electric Ice Teas all day, (you don't
need the gin) and it will wear things down evenly.

Get several bottles of kahlua and that will take care of all that vodka.

Date: Tue May 6 20:49:55 2008
Sender: Brian Dust

I agree with Jay. If for no other reason than a delicious tribute to your
wife's ancestry, White Russians would be a great way to go!

Date: Tue May 6 20:52:20 2008
Sender: Jeff Luddingsmash

Yeah I need some Kahlua. Actually I need a lot of things. I sort of have the
basics, but I need some mixers... sloe gin, Kahlua, Triple sec, Snapps, etc.
Oh, and I actually need to build my bar one of these days.

But for now, I have the best part of the bar... the booze!

Yeah, I must concur with Jay and Brian...the Dude abides!

Put one bottle of vodka in the freezer, its the best cure for the hangovers
from all the other stuff!

(Then again, I've been "in recovery" for 4.5 years, so maybe I'm not a good
spokesman for responsible drinking . . . LOL)

Sender: Chris Oaks

You've got a couple of bottles of Rum. Try a few Hurricanes:

Rum
Passion Fruit juice (you can get it in the frozen section like the other
juices)
Lime juice
Grenadine
Ice

Yummers.

For that nice buzzy feeling with none of the lag mix 1 part vodka to 2 parts
red bull. Slamming good drink that gets you buzzed as the caffeine and
stimulants rip that alcohol through your system quicker, without getting slowed
up. Great drink for sporting events and such...

Vodka martinis are good too...but I wont make them at home...too many
ingredients..

Vodka-cranberry juice is good too...also try the Ocean Spray white cranberry...

I only drink Vodka or beer so I can't help with the rest..and I always mix 1
part vodka to 2 parts whatever. But that is to my taste, not to any recipes. I
lean away from mixing more than one thing with my vodka..

and Unbrellas and olives to taste ;)

You could stand to get some sour mix so you can make amaretto and whiskey
sours.

Long Island Ice tea would be a nice one for the summer and could use up a few
of those different liquors.

But for me, I'm more into drinking whiskey straight with a Guinness backer.
And if you chill whisky shots, they go down much smoother.

"Keep the advice flowing" said Jeff with Bailey's Irish Coffee in hand.

Oh, I'm also a big proponent of Bloody Marys. Especially with those big honkin'
green olives. We also have a bar here that puts beef jerky sticks in their
Bloody Marys. I thought that was a nice touch.

Sender: Brian Dust

I agree with Chris, Bloody Marys are delicious! I like Caesars too! If you
get bored with the celery garnish, dill pickle slices are good, or a succulent
steamed shrimp is a decadent way to go!

Date: Thu May 8 05:43:40 2008
Sender: Chris Oaks

What's in a Caesar?

Date: Thu May 8 05:49:24 2008
Sender: Brian Dust

Caesar

4 oz Clamato Juice
1 oz vodka
2 tsp lime juice
pepper to taste
1 dash Tabasco hot pepper sauce
2 dash Worcestershire sauce
rim glass with celery salt
garnish with celery stalk

Date: Thu May 8 09:44:59 2008
Sender: Jeff Luddingsmash

Hmmm... the steamed shrimp is a great idea. Personally I'm not big on
tomato/clamato juice, but my wife loves it. Maybe I'll have to make her one.

Date: Thu May 8 14:07:42 2008
Sender: Chris Oaks

Er ... what is the difference between a Caesar and a Bloody Mary? It looks
pretty similar to me.

Date: Thu May 8 14:10:51 2008
Sender: Chris Oaks

I guess the clamato juice is the difference, versus tomato juice.

Date: Thu May 8 18:51:31 2008
Sender: Brian Dust

Chris - similar drinks: tomato vs clamato and lemon vs lime, although I've
seen recipes that call for beef consomme added to the Mary as well.

Date: Sun May 11 18:02:19 2008
Sender: Jeff Luddingsmash

I am armed and ready with Clamato juice and vodka. It's Caesar time!

Date: Mon May 12 08:10:58 2008
Sender: Chris Oaks

Et tu, Luddé?

(A Caesar sounds awesome right now. It's 10 am right now, by the way. And no,
I'm not a lush. It would go great with some eggs.)

Date: Mon May 12 08:30:17 2008
Sender: Jeff Luddingsmash

Je n'aime pas le Calmato jus. But my wife loves it.

Date: Mon May 12 08:41:00 2008
Sender: Brian Dust

Jeff, I think Chris was going for a Julias Caesar reference, "Et tu, Brutus?"

Caesars for your wife, Bloody Marys for you, and everyone is happy!

Date: Mon May 12 08:58:28 2008
Sender: Chris Oaks

Dusty is correct -- he gets to go to the bonus round. But just out of
curiosity, does "et tu" mean anything in French?

Date: Mon May 12 10:18:30 2008
Sender: Brian Dust

Chris, in French, "et tu" is the informal way of asking, "and you?"

BTW, I don't care what time of day it is, Caesars are lovely!

Date: Mon May 12 10:35:59 2008
Sender: Chris Oaks

Ah .. makes perfect sense. If you trust Wikipedia, the Caesar and the Romans
spoke Latin, and the French language evolved from that. I wonder what "I
surrender" is in Latin?

Date: Mon May 12 10:50:37 2008
Sender: Jeff Luddingsmash

Opps missed that.

Date: Mon May 12 13:43:27 2008
Sender: Laurent Boudias

Et tu doesn't mean anything in French. And you? would be "et toi?"

By the way, the French don't say "Et tu, Brute?" talking about Ceasar's last
words but "Tu quoque mi fili?" which means "You too my son?"

It's interesting how from a language to another, latin versions are different.

Date: Mon May 12 15:23:40 2008
Sender: Brian Dust

"et tu"...either it's an example of Quebecois liberties, or I am incorrect. If
it's the later, I apologize for the misinformation. If it's the former, I'll
leave it to the Quebecois to apologize for butchering French.

Date: Mon May 12 15:27:59 2008
Sender: Brian Dust

Laurent, I also could've avoided confusing you by typing more in my original
post. I was trying to address two points by typing as few words as
possible...on the topic of Caesers, the alcoholic beverage, Chris made a play
on words with "Et tu, Ludde", using a Shakespearean reference, but since Jeff
replied partly in French, I was guessing he didn't catch the reference the
first time. No one was implying the French use "Et tu, Caeser", with respect
to Julias Caesar.

Date: Mon May 12 18:47:37 2008
Sender: Laurent Boudias

Oh no problem, I just wanted to correct the post saying et tu had a meaning in
French. :)

Then I thought it was interesting mentionning that a famous quote was different
in French culture and in English culture, even though the quote was in latin in
both cultures.

Now French Canadians have a very interesting way to talk French. I personnaly
love it. It's very fun to see the difference and I love their accent.

Once while in Quebec with my family on a family trip we were in Montreal. We
were hopelessly driving around (this is pre-GPS) and could not locate our
hotel. My dad decided to stop the van and get out and go ask a couple of women
on a bench in a park for directions. I walked with him. He asked them and they
replied in French. He asked again....just speaking slower. I told him no matter
how slowly he speaks they will not understand. He didn't listen to me. 5
minutes later (these women were very nice and patient, and probably getting a
kick out of it) I finally convinced him to show them the hotel name and address
in the travelers book and just shrug and look confused. Then we got great
directions.

My brothers favorite drink is a

White Russian- made with tequila, instead of vodka.

tastes suprisingly, OK.

AJ, if someone served me one I'd try it, but I'm not about to go out of my way
to make one.
