at least indirectly.

A CNN poll amont registered Democrats reported that 40% said they will vote for
John McCain if their nominee (Clinton/Obama) doesn't get the nod.

I guess the Obama - Hillary campaign has become so polarizing people would
rather vote for the Republican- then the other guy.

McCain may be the only Republican to win though.

The generic ballot looks terrible for Republicans mostly because they have been
over spending pig oinkers.

They don't fight on spending.
They don't fight for judges.

They are going to get their behinds kicked.

I think that margin will narrow as people start to really weigh the option of
voting for their 2nd favorite vs. the other party's guy.

I didn't really think it was that bad for Obama and Hillary to battle it out,
because they do have a very different appeal.- and in the spirit of Democracy
that should be OK.

but I guess in a 2 party system, not always.

Oz, you are right on the Repubs not fighting on spending, but they haven't had
to fight much on judges. For whatever reason, with a couple of notable
exceptions that don't matter much in the larger picture, the Dems pretty much
rolled on Bush's judges. If there is one issue on which Bush has delivered,
it's on remaking the federal judiciary. If you are a conservative/federalist
type, it is hard to find much better than Roberts/Alito on the Supreme Court,
and his lower court appointments have been in the same vein.

James actually there are several Bush appointed judges in the lower circuit
courts that the Dems are holding up. The really conservative ones have been
stonewalled about 2 years.

James ... I was speaking more of the Circuit Court nominees than anything.
That is where the GOP is being wimpy.
