Well I have sat back the past few weeks observing the Democrat Primary race and
I must confess I have never seen anything quite like it and that includes a lot
of campaigns over many years. From the beginning of Obama's campaign last Fall
until mid March it ran like a well oiled machine. He made a compelling
argument for change and attracted huge crowds everywhere he spoke. Senator
Clinton on the other hand couldn't seem to do anything right. She made a bad
decision not to campaign hard in caucus states, she had trouble staying on any
type of message, and she was plauged by her husband's temper at times and his
attempt at race baiting following the North Carolina Primary.
Then along comes the good oh Rev. J. Wright, some dumb statements by Obama to
his fund raisers in San Francisco prior to the Pennsylvania Primary, and then
the discovery of his association with Bill Ayers, a 60's era radical and a
founder of the Weatherman group which later became the Weatherman
underground...a group dedicated to violence and bombings.
The Clinton campaign on the other hand got rid of Campaign chairman Mark Penn
who was making some really bad calls and turned to vetrean Clinton confidante
and loyalist James Carvelle to right the sinking ship. The "rajin cajin" has
done a masterful job of turning her campaign around. She is staying on
message, has toned down the negative rhetoric, and has benefited by Obama's
missteps.
I live in Indiana and have been impressed with the campaign efforts that
Senator Clinton and Senator Obama have waged here. We are not used to having
this much spotlite on our state. I attended a rally a couple of weeks ago in
Vincennes, In. a town of about 40,000 people and heard the former president
Bill Clinton speak. The guy really gave a great speech to about 3500 people.
I spoke with him briefly following his speech and must confess he is an
imposing man. He has spent several days campaigning here as has Chelsea. The
race was really close a few weeks ago, but now I think Senator clinton is going
to carry the state by a pretty convincing margin.
Having said all of this I am 99 per cent sure that Obama is going to get the
nomination. The Super Delegates are going to decide this race and they are
sacred to death to deny Obama the nomination. I think the Fall campaign is
going to go one of two ways...I do not think it will be close. McCain is
either going to win in a landslide or else if the economy continues to stagger
Obama will get the nod. I am like a few other people that have voiced their
views here. I don't care for any of the 3 candidates. McCain would rather
piss off his own base than eat. But we knew what we were getting when he got
the nomination.
Oh one thing I forgot...Clinton appearing on O'Reilly's show is a stroke of
brilliance by Carvelle. She is going to be appearing before more people than
all of Obama's rallies put together. Should be fun to watch.

I will be voting Democrat in tomorrow's Indiana Primary. It marks the first
time in my life I have voted for a Democrat on the National level. The Dems
pretty much nominated our candidate, so I figure I will have a little say who
their guy/gal will be. I just hope I don't get sick in the voting booth.
The polls have narrowed here in our state. It is a toss up right now. If the
turnout in Indianapolis and South Bend is heavy, Obama will more than likely
win. Looks like Obama will coast in North Carolina although she has closed the
gap somewhat. Her days as a candidate are numbered.
