My son and I spent about an hour this morning listening to Les Miz. Got me
thinking. What's everyone's favorite musical or stage production?
I've probably only seen about ten different shows, but I think Les Miz has to
be #1 on my list.

Funny, Doc and I were just talking about musicals last week--we're both known
to whistle some Sound of Music from time to time. The Who's Tommy is pretty
rockin' onstage, and simply zany in movie form. Phantom is another powerful
stage show, and I'll admit I liked the songs from Oklahoma too ("Pore Judd is
daid, pore Judd Frye is daid"). Sweeney Todd is really dark with a creepy
kind-of off-key score.
A more recent one with some great songs, that I saw on Broadway last summer,
was Curtains with David Hyde Pierce, highly recommended for fans of musicals.

Musical: Evita?
Guilty pleasure musical: Avenue Q
Non-musical: Most anything Shakespeare, although seeing Patrick Stewart in the
title role of Marc Antony with the Royal Shakespeare Company was pretty
freaking awesome.
