So I'm sitting here thinking that the Falcons are going to get screwed with
their pick. They really NEED Dorsey to fall to them. I wonder what St. Louis
would charge for Atlanta to move up one slot.
A second?
It might be worth it, but then they couldn't trade up back into the first to
get a QB which they probably will do.
I'm going to miss the first 2.5 hours due to kids games .. should be back by
the 18th pick in the first round .. or so

What would be so bad about Chris Long?
I think Atlanta's in a really good spot and should hold tight and take Long or
Dorsey.

The USA Today (today) has Detroit taking a RB (Jon Stewart), but doesn't he
already have a job as a media pundit? I think they'll take a WR to replace
Rogers.
Hopefully they'll pick up a decent OL and work the FA market.

Ooops, I mean C Johnson. (some Lions fan I am...don't even know the names of
the players lol )

Raiders just picked McFadden and no surprises yet. I think Atlanta made the
right pick. I never thought Vick was a good QB, and losing him wasn't a huge
on the field deal. Needing a QB though, Matt Ryan was the safest pick of any
of the guys available this year...and there probably isn't anyone better going
to be available next season in the draft. I think Ryan's stregnth will be his
intangibles, don't get down on him Atlanta fans....he will be good enough to
get you farther than Vick would have.

You don't think ATL could have gotten Ryan a few picks later and enticed
someone to move up for Dorsey?

They MAY have been able to, but I don't think it is a risk they could afford to
take. I do think they paid too much and reached for Baker at #21. They needed
an OT, but I am not sold on Baker. They also just picked ILB lofton out of
Oklahoma, he is a pretty solid player himself.
I rarely agree with ESPN, but KC has had a tremendous draft so far.

My Steelers went offense..
Limas Sweed and Mendenhall is not something I'm accustomed to.

Oh yeah, Chad Henne in Miami.
Is he going to be any good?

I am very happy with what my cowboys did.
with #22 they got Felix Jones who will be a very good complement to Barber
they trade up from #28 to #25 to get CB Jenkins who depending on who you talk
too was the #1 or #2 CB
basicly, they got exactly who they wanted and what they needed in the first
round. really good job

The Cheifs ruled the day.
Steelers got nice value, but Mendenhall isn't a good fit with Parker. Neither
can block, and that is the one thing the steelers really needed to address.
Sweed was great value.
Where did Jim Zorn hide Snyder's body? Trading down for more picks, nobody in
FA, no real news out of DC. Maybe Zorn WAS the right man for the job. Still 3
R's (2Wr's and a H-back/TE) is questionable.
Miami did well, IMO.
Flacco better be the answer or Baltimore will look bad again.
Gruden's Ego WILL destroy him. You can't always take bad character guys and
think you will fix them.
Jason Taylor may play another year for Miami, but with the selection of
Merling, he better practice instead of dance.

O'Cmon, Jason Taylor is my favorite defensive player in the NFL-
He's been outplaying that entire crap hole of a team for the past 4 years, he
needs some time away to do something fun- playing your balls off for a team as
bad as Miami can probably destroy your soul.

I'm not knocking him. Sorry, but it DOESN'T matter how hard you worked for the
old boss, when the new boss comes in you have to impress HIM. Parcells will
deal with prima donnas but he doesn't have a dang thing for them until they
prove themselves in HIS camp.
Don't get me wrong, I love Taylor. I've lived most of my life in either the
Pittsburgh Area or the Akron Area. Taylor has been someone I've known about
for a long time.

I'm pretty happy with the Eagles draft.
Considering I was projecting DeSean Jackson to them at #19, I was happy they
were able to land him in the second round.
And I love the Trevor Laws pick. Over 100 tackles as a DT--that's a guy who can
get after the football.
And, we have Carolina's 1st round pick next year. You never know how things
will play out in the NFL from one season to the next, but if the Panters do
flop, they have the potential to really flop. I'm talking top five overall pick
flop.
I really wanted James Hardy in the second round and am envious of the Bills for
getting him two picks ahead of us. He's going to be good.
Also, the OL out of Pitt, McGlynn, and double as a long-snapper, so we no
longer need to eat one roster spot for a long snapping specialist.
The only real head-scratcher I had was our 3rd round pick Bryan Smith. We took
a 230 pound DE in the third round. Everything I've read about him indicates
that he's a naturally gifted defensive football player, but I've also read that
a transition to LB (which he would most certainly need to do at that weight)
won't be easy for him. Seems pretty high to take that large of a project.

The Chiefs did well on day one, but I'm surprised they only took one more true
OL in the last five rounds. They did manage to add talent at CB and WR, though,
which are both needs. Overall, we hit our trouble areas, so let's hope they pan
out.

The Chiefs are getting too much credit though. Keep in mind they traded a 26
year old stud DE and then drafted a DT who they will have to also give a lot of
gauraunteed money.
The trade did allow them to get both Albert and Dorsey, but how much better off
are they really after the trade vs before? They did good, but teams tend to get
too much credit on draft day if they trade players for picks or future picks
for current picks etc.

The Chiefs offense needs a talented offensive lineman like Albert more than
their defense needs Jared Allen. The defense may take a step back without
Allen, but their offense is already four steps behind. As a fan, I have no
problem with them taking the gamble.

Well, I'm a Seahawks and Falcons fan. I don't think the Seahawks really did
much of anything, but that's okay, we're going down the toilet next year when
Mora takes over.
Now, back to the Falcons.
I don't like the Matt Ryan pick. And I'm willing to (and hoping to) eat those
words in a season or two when Ryan is great.
They could have gotten Dorsey there and Brohm instead of Loften.
Baker was a reach. A necessary reach, but a reach even still.
The end of the draft guys are special teamers and defensive backups which is
fine for a first year coach / GM to get. Grab a bunch of guys who play hard
and love you for picking them into the NFL and some of them will stick and be
better than you thought.
In two years, we'll start to get a feel for what Dimitroff did.

I don't disagree completely Darren, but
"Keep in mind they traded a 26 year old stud DE ..."
who apparently wanted out of KC and whose comments indicated that he would not
resign
"... and then drafted a DT who they will have to also give a lot of
gauraunteed money."
which will be OK if he develops as expected and they can get him on a 5+ year
contract. In addition they address serious needs in other areas.
A risk, but not as big a risk with their stated intention to play a lot of
rookies in a serious bid to rebuild the franchise IMO.

Also, the Chiefs had to franchise Allen. Thats why it makes sense for them to
trade him to MN (Which I'm happy to see as a Vikings fan!)
I personally liked the Vikings draft of Booty. He could be the answer down the
road if Tavaris doesnt get things going soon!

I thought that was a very good pick as well Dale. Jackson is terrible, doesn't
look to be getting much better. I'm not sure what the big difference is between
Henne and Booty, so for them to get Booty 3 rounds later looks good to me.

I agree on Travaris Jackson also. That guy is an awful NFL QB.
With their defense and running game, the Vikings are really selling themselves
short by letting this clown QB their team.
