all the pundits hot on them.
what did I miss?

They're going to flop this year.
Derek Anderson will bust....mark my words. He died down the stretch last season
as the competition got more difficult.

I think it's only two Monday night games and five nationally televised games
total.
I'll take it. Hopefully the Brownies can live up to the hype.

Browns schedule is tough, tougher than last year which was tough.
Patriots have the easiest schedule in the league.
Browns are good, but may not show up in the standings.

NFL ain't DEL thats for sure...
you finish 17-1 in DEL, you get a tough schedule, not that cupcake thing the
PAts got.

the schedules aren't really open to whims anymore. You get who you get, you
can tell now who the teams will play next year. Not like the NFL gave the Pats
a freebie- that crappy division did. Well that one and a couple others.

I miss the schedule tweaks.
I remember back in the day, when every 2-3 years we could count on one team
drawing a division foe twice in three weeks.
That doesn't happen anymore either.
There's so much damn structure to everything nowadays.

Looking a little more in depth at the schedule, they really didn't do New
England ANY favors. Maybe a weak division helped, but 4 trips to the west
coast? That has to hurt.
Going into last season the Patriots had the 3rd hardest schedule based on the
previous year (when the Jets were in the playoffs and Miami was respectable).
So rating schedules now is just dumb. Will the entire NFC East be good again?
Probably not. 2 of the teams (Redskins and somebody) won't be nearly as good
this year. Browns may falter. Cincy is again in shambles and Baltimore
doesn't seem to be getting any better.
I really have a hard time believing in SOS for pro teams. I'm more inclined to
look at road trips, extra days off (Thursday games/bye weeks/opponent played
MNF) as more important.

I'm always amazed when people complain that the NFL commish 'conspires' to make
teams schedules easy or hard. Every year, 14 out of the 16 games are pretty
much already decided years in advance (home/away and chronological order not
withstanding). And for the other two games the Patriots get the Colts and the
Steelers, not exactly cupcakes. But I'm sure people will still say Belichick
somehow cheated in order to get the matchups against the AFC East, and AFC and
NFC west divisions. And as Mike said, those west coast trips can be brutal.
Although, I think I read that because they have two sets of consecutive games
out there, that Belichick may have them just stay and practice on the west
coast instead of coming back to Massachusetts, so it's more like only two west
coast trips instead of four.

I don't see anyone saying the Patriots fixed the schedule.
We just said it was really easy, West Coast or not.
The Patriots conspired to cheat in plenty of other things, but not the
schedule.

I haven't looked closely at the schedule, but recall hearing that a number of
teams were already scheduled for their maximum of Sunday night games. Do you
think NBC is happy to hear the top teams are already scheduled for the max
games, so won't be subject to be pulled in for the flex scheduling?
