It's actually amusing to see the varying definitions of "friend" on Facebook.
A few years back (when Facebook was still getting started), someone I only
barely knew, added me as a friend. I would never see or talk to her if it
weren't for having a couple mutual friends, so we'd get invited to the same
social events occasionally, i.e., textbook definition of "friend of a friend".
Nonetheless, I signed on and confirmed it, what the heck.
Anyways, the VERY NEXT DAY, I happen to run into her in the hallway of my
building. I figure I'd at least nod and say hello as we were passing by. I
look up, she makes no eye contact and snubs me. Nonethess, I remained a
"friend" on Facebook.
From that day I've considered Facebook friend to be a joke.
