so this isn't a mock draft or even guys your team should draft, but just who
are some of the guys coming out that you think will make good pros:

ghoulston
jake long
glenn dorsey
mike jenkins
mendenhall
caldwell (wr fla)
chris williams
chad henne

down here in atlanta we're pumped over six picks in the first three rounds and
just hoping they dont take matt ryan

Sender: Brian Pate

either of the longs (jake or the chris), gholston or dorsey... granted, none
of them will be on the board when the lions pick but o-line/d-line are huge
weaknesses for detroit. barring those, i hope see jenkins, talib or mckelvin
at cb coming to detroit to help a pathetic secondary

Date: Thu Apr 3 19:13:41 2008
Sender: Mike Boofer

Didn't Detriot add both Brian Kelly and Leigh Bodden at CB? Neither is
dominate, but both are good, IMO.

For the Bills--

1st round: WR Malcolm Kelly, maybe Devin Thomas if they really fall in love
with him, or a CB like Rodgers-Cromartie or Talib or Jenkins.

2nd round: if no WR in the 1st, James Hardy (maybe Limas Sweed), even if they
have to trade up for him. Possibly a QB like Brohm/Flacco if they're
available, or a TE like Dustin Keller or Marcellus Bennett.

3rd: FB is a need position, would like and Owen Schmitt or Jehuu Caulcrick, or
maybe a complementary RB like Steve Slaton or Kevin Smith.

Later rounds: Bills also need depth on the O-line, another DE, maybe OLB, and
definitely a backup QB if they don't get one earlier in the draft (I'm assuming
Losman gets traded).

For the Eagles:

Round 1: WR, OT or CB
At #19, I'd love to see Malcolm Kelly drop that far. They may even reach a bit
and take James Hardy at WR.

For OT's I assume both Chris Williams and Jeff Otah are off the board at this
point, and don't want Ryan Clady, as I feel we already have his clone on our
roster in Winston Justice.

So, that leaves CB. McKelvin and Rodgers-Cromartie are probably gone, so Philly
may look at Mike Jenkins or Aqib Talib. Not sure that Talib is physical enough
to play in our system, but I do like his return skills (which we need). I would
take Jenkins though.

Final prediction: #1 Kelly (if he's there), #2 Jenkins (if he's there), #3
Hardy (who will most certainly be there).

Round 2: WR, OT, CB or Safety
Could see Philly rolling on Kenny Phillips if he's here. Or, fi we don't go CB
in round #1, could go for a guy like Terrel Thomas from USC--who's style if
very conducive to Philly's system.

Ideal world, (and Kevin, as a Bills fan, tell me what you think), I'd like to
trade our 2nd rounder and Lito Sheppard to Buffalo for the #11 pick, and have
the following take place:

#11 first round: Chris Williams
#19 first round: Kelly, Jenkins or Hardy

Jamie, definitely an intriguing trade idea, though I'm worried that the Bills
would lose out on all their coveted WR prospects by the middle of the second
round (and WR need is more pressing than CB right now). I do like Sheppard,
what would you think about something like a swap of 1st AND 2nd round positions
with maybe a late-round pick thrown in as well?

Sender: Jamie Davies

Ok Kevin, we're close.

We have 11 picks this season, so the last thing we need is more picks.

How 'bout we swap spots in the first and second this season, we give you Lito
and you give us your 3rd rounder next season?

Then we could get Williams in the 1st--a guy like Hardy, Phillips or Thomas in
the 2nd, and you can still land a top WR at #19.

Stinking Browns don't have a pick until round 4. They had better be thinking
of something, or we'll end up with Chuck Nobody.

I'd love jake long if our team had any of the top picks.
The panthers have a lot of needs.
I wouldn't mind a qb and then in the second round grab someone like Rucker from
Misourri as a good receiving TE would be nice.

There are rumors about the Falcons looking at Matt Ryan.

That would be a disaster.

I hope the Lions draft a new owner and a new front office...

Chiefs need OL first and foremost, but Jake Long won't be available at #5. So
I'd go Glenn Dorsey at DT, or trade down if possible and take Sam Baker, Ryan
Claty, Branden Alberts or possibly Jeff Otah later on.

Then I'd go cornerback in the second round.

Generally speaking, I'm impressed with Herm's drafting ... but his "best player
available" strategy makes we worry we'd take Matt Ryan at #5, and I REALLY
don't want to get Matt Ryan. We already have "young, unproven QB" covered with
Brodie Croyle.

Two weeks out--and here's where my first round mock stands. I'll probably tweak
it a bit, but I'm feeling pretty good about it. Each year, and handful of
buddies and I do a contest (with a fair amount of cash going to the winner), so
I do try to put some thought into it. Anyway, if you're interested...

1. Miami--Jake Long OT, Michigan
2. St Louis--Chris Long DE, Virginia
3. Atlants--Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
4. Oakland--Darren McFadden RB, Arkansas
5. Kansas City--Sedrick Ellis DT, USC
6. NY Jets--Vernon Gholston DE, Ohio St
7. New England--Leodis McKelvin CB, Troy
8. Baltimore--Matt Ryan QB, Boston College
9. Cincinnati--Derrick Harvey DE, Florida
10. New Orleans--Dominique Rodgers Cromartie CB, Tenn St
11. Buffalo--Mike Jenkins CB, S Florida
12. Denver--Chris Williams OT, Vanderbilt
13. Carolina--Jeff Otah OT, Pittsburgh
14. Chicago--Devin Thomas WR, Michigan State
15. Detroit--Rashard Mendenhall, RB N Illinois
16. Arizona--Brandon Albert OG, Virginia
17. Minnesota--Phillip Merling DE, Clemson
18. Houston--Ryan Clady OT, Boise St
19. Philadelphia--DeSean Jackson WR, California

Nice mock, Jaime.

It runs similar to a few I've seen.

One thing though. There is no way that Brian Brohm doesn't go in the first
round.

He could go high.

In fact, if KC takes Ryan, I think Baltimore takes Brohm at 8 or trades down
and takes Brohm around 12.

I really hope you are right on the Falcons and Seahawks picks .. I would be
happy with both of those.

just as an FYI, my favorite draft site is gbnreport.com plus I watch a lot of
nfl network this time of year.

TOday they are replaying the first round of last year's draft. Funny hearing
them talk about the Falcons "need to pick an offensive lineman to protect Mike
Vick."

Vick is safe enough now ... LOL.
