Last year SF signed into law a health insurance plan that would force
business's to provide health insurance to their employees or face fines. This
link talks a little about the plan:

Last week I read an article that local restaurants are putting a surcharge
on all bills to counter the fees charged for force health insurance:

Is this how Hilary's forced nationwide health care plan will work? She'll
force everyone to join or face fines, then every business will add a surcharge
to every purchase we make to help off-set the cost of paying for insurance? So,
we'll get taxed to pay for Hilary's health care, then have to pay additionally
when companies don't want to have this tax eat into their profit margin. Looks
like those evil republican restaurant owners are just trying to stick it to the
average joe again. Will business's ever learn that making profit isn't the key
to running a business? These restaurants should use Air America as an example
of 'how to run a business'; pay millions to get aired over the radio, lose
millions and go bankrupt...then have the government plan a law to force this
money-losing venture into profit-making ventures.

mmm....

how about instead of Exxon making 100 million per day in profit, they only make
99.9 million per day and help pay a little insurance.

This is counter to basic market economics.

The health insurance costs don't change the demand. The price of the inputs
does not directly effect the price of the product.

Maybe they're willing to serve fewer people so as to not hurt their bottom line
by serving more?

AJ, you act like every company is Exxon.
