I have to say, thats pretty cool...
I suggest everyone give it a shot.
---------------------------------------
though, I'm not sure if it's my settings or if it needs a little tweakin.
My box scores aren't lined up properly, is that a fix for me or Neil?
(Ps.. can't wait to you add the music)

the box scores line up for me. I really like the viewer, seeing the players
change on the court in the box scores is a very nice feature as well, makes it
easier to see whose on the floor when you make runs, and see what position is
killing you (grrr at PGs grabbing clutch offensive rebounds against me)...lol

This is definitely very cool stuff. I don't even go to the PBP page any more
in CBEL. Awesome!

It didn't work for me, but I have a rather old, underpowered computer, so I
assume that is to blame.

I noticed that it won't operate at work, but it appears that is because work
uses a Proxy. I expect it will work at home.

Mine still doesn't lien the team totals up with th eplayer stats 100%
correctly.
But it's nice to set it on the right speed and sit back and watch.
I felt like turning on "Jock Jams" and having a beer.

Sounds like a cool thing, but it wont work for me :(
When I try to run the program, I get the following error message:

I think this is a thing of beauty. It worked perfectly for me last night. I
have requested that Andy put it on the CBEL home page so everyone has easy
access to it.

No, unfortunately it is a stand-alone java program. I suppose he could try to
make it into an applet, but that's beyond my limited java coding abilities as I
am mostly a Microsoft man (VB 6.0 and ASP.NET/VB.NET, etc..)

I downloaded it today to look at...it's pretty cool.
One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to like it when there's two players
on a team with the same name. I have Fernandez the redshirting PF and
Fernandez the starting PG. It won't show Fernandez in the game at PG. I like
it though.
Date: Wed Feb 15 17:15:01 2006
Sender: Eric Opperman
Err...had my names mixed up. Both my Fernandezes play (Gonzalez is my redshirt
PF, lol), and it combines their stats.
Date: Fri Feb 24 09:13:47 2006
Sender: Neil Stickels
Wow, I need to pay attention to the board's more often.
Hmm, a few things:
1. Eric is right in that if you have two players on the same team with the
same last name, there isn't anyway for it to differentiate between the two, so
it will combine their stats.
2. Not sure about the problems you guys were having when you were saying it
wasn't working, even if you did have old computers. You should definitely try
to do the full install, and installing java 1.5 on there. If that doesn't
work, then I don't know what to tell you, if that does work, but the viewer
doesn't work, then let me know, and I will try to help.
3. I am also not sure what is going on with you Alec, when you are saying that
the boxscore stats don't line up. If you are still having this problem, send
me an email to nstickels@gmail.com, and I will help you with trying to diagnose
the problem.
4. If you notice any problems at all, let me know, I am still working on
trying to improve it.
5. Known issues:
a. Blocked three pointers don't show up as missed shots in the box scores
b. Air balls don't show up as missed shots in the box scores.
c. The timing at the end of the first half is screwy, as it counts all of
those box score lines as play by play lines.
d. If there is a loose ball foul on a rebound on the team that had the
ball, the free throws and points for the defensive guy who is now shooting the
free throws will show up in the box score, but they don't immediately update
the score on the scoreboard until the next time that this team scores.
e. I am missing rebounds somewhere, but I am not sure where this is.
Date: Fri Feb 24 17:33:12 2006
Sender: Scott McEntire
Neil... the rebounds are team rebounds, I think. They won't always be
attributed to an individual. At least, that's what I *think* is happening.
One issue to add... If a player-control foul is called, the sim properly does
not add that to the Team Fouls total, but the PbP Viewer does. It is counting
up all individual fouls, even though not all individual fouls are actually
counted as Team Fouls.
Lastly, I only go through my games now by using this. It is fantastic. The
one time I was unable to access the PbP Viewer... I was away from work and
home... I lost to Georgia Tech. So, being the superstitious twit that I am,
I'm hooked!

Sender: Eric Opperman
Scott, you're mostly correct. I'm speaking from a college perspective on here
because, well, it's my job.
A rebound that goes out of bounds is (almost always) a team rebound, which
counts in your team totals. The exception is if the shot goes over the
backboard or hits the shot clock, which are counted as deadball rebounds --
those don't count as anything except to make sure there's a rebound for every
missed shot. Of course, you can also determine a player was responsible for
the ball going out -- if I bat the rebound out of you and my team gets the
ball, I can be awarded a rebound.
Deadball rebounds don't count in team rebounding numbers, while team rebounds
do. Deadball rebounds also happen on missed free throws (when there's another
free throw coming, or if it's an airball), loose-ball fouls on a rebound when
nobody has control, or a non-desperation shot at the end of a half.
Also, in college, all individual fouls are team fouls. You don't shoot free
throws on any sort of offensive foul, except on an inbounds pass.
I hope this was slightly educational and not just completely boring. :)

Eric... from a DEL perspective, however, when a player control foul is called,
it is not added to the team foul totals. Check just about any PbP, and you'll
see this.
Date: Tue Mar 7 22:20:11 2006
Sender: Eric Opperman
Yeah...I think Andy writes the games based on the pro rules, and that's a
difference he either didn't catch or didn't see as meaningful enough to worry
about.

Another error I found in my game today, when a player is fouled on the last
play of the first half the foul count for the second half doesnt reset to 0
i view all my CBEL games on this now, its great...but can be frustrating when
you have a player who seems to always make bonehead plays at crucial times
