One of the things I'm having a difficult time understanding is how in some
games my team and my opponent are fairly equal when it comes to free throw
opportunities, and on many occassions I'll play a team that gets 30+ trips to
the line where I am getting only around 10. I could understand if my guys were
really poor in intelligence and high in aggression, but I don't think this is
the case (I could be wrong). I even spend 1-2 points a game in films but am
still seeing severely lopsided differences in free throw attempts.

It could have to do with your player depth settings.
If teams start high drive in and shoot down low they will draw more fouls.

If a team has 'Shooting' set to high in their Situational Settings, they will
usually draw more fouls. Conversely, a team that takes many more outside shots
will draw less.
