Question - How much is a star player worth?
I made what I thought were decent bids in BEL and got shut out.
Leaving me with 3 mediocre players scraped up for 2.5 mill or less.
I saw some bids that I thought were just insane (20 million + per season).

Does pro-level chemistry do much good? I see most teams at "poor" and even one
at "terrible."

A real Stud/Star player in the pros is going to cost you anywhere from 12 to 16
mil depending on his attributes. I agree with you that 20 mil is way to high
for any player but there are coaches who would argue with me on that. I think
you have done a good job so far with your team geting good solid players at
very reasonable contracts. And you still have 14 mil to spend if a real good
player comes along in future waiver wires....which will probably happen. You
need to keep an eye on your Low Luxury tax..that can add up in a hurry.

As for chemistry...this has been discussed several different times and I have
not seen any real consensus reached. For ME I can only say that I just do not
put too much stock in team chemistry. I have NEVER had a team that had
anything but POOR on team chemistry..and I have won my fair share of games and
Championships. We(fellow coaches) have never been able to get a good
explanation from Andy on just exactly what role it plays in the pro sim. I
have seen a team once in a while be "Moderate", but seldom higher than that.

If team chemistry works like in football, it's more or less a multiplier to
intelligence.

For a short time after he introduced it, Andy had team chemistry (in football,
anyway) actually shown as a number with 1.00 being average, the worst teams in
chemistry having maybe 0.87 and the best maybe 1.08.

I think that intelligence of each player (probably in both sports) is
multiplied by that number.

"Poor" (I'm guessing) might be 0.85 to 0.95, "Average" 0.95 to 1.05, "Good"
1.05 to 1.15, with "Terrible" or "Excellent" also possible at the extremes.

That perception of chemistry may be accurate. Especially useful for guards and
folks who tend to get into foul trouble. I think this if any sport needs
chemistry on the team it is basketball.

As for contracts, if you play in a league with few active/veteran coaches, you
can get away with paying lesser amounts for star players.

If you play in a competitive league with good coaches, you can't put a price
tag on star players. You will need to overpay to ensure you get stars on your
roster.
