Looks like a serious inviting results bug in Round 2. Ordinarily, I wouldn't
check Round 2 very closely, but here's what happened with two of my invitees
this afternoon:
294 Jeffers: I bid an extra point on him, and 13 other teams invited him as
well ( with three of them promising him a scholarship).
294 Jeffers C Fr 4 2 0 2 3 3 1 10 100 6'11" 0.00 -- -- D C C
Maryland 14 R S
Maine 4 R S
C Connctct St 5 R S
Notre Dame 20 R P
Longwood 4 R
Bucknell 3 R
New Hampshire 7 R
NJ Tech 4 R
Texas Pan Am 0 R
Pennsylvania 0 R
Columbia 0 R
Boston Univ 0 R
Holy Cross 5 R
Quinnipiac 0 R
So what happens? He only visits MARYLAND! (No one else!) Maryland will get
him for zero points without using a scholarship on him!
1456 Searle: Same thing! Two scholarship offers, 11 different schools
inviting him:
1456 Searle PG Fr 5 2 3 2 1 6 4 10 100 5'10" 0.00 -- -- C C PG
C Connctct St 5 R S
Maine 4 R S
Notre Dame 20 R P
Louisville 21 R
Wake Forest 19 R
Marquette 20 R
N Carolina 17 R
Villanova 14 R
New Hampshire 7 R
Lehigh 5 R
Columbia 0 R
Again, same result! Searle only visits Central Connecticut State (no one
else), and will be landed WITHOUT a scholarship!
Now it's pretty obvious that my Inebriated Irishmen would not have gotten
either one of these two recruits, since we have no remaining Shollies left, but
there are several other schools in the mix that have definitely gotten the
SHAFT on Round 2 of the invites. I know that if I had been one of the other
coaches offering Jeffers or Searle a scholarship, I'd be VERY upset!
Perusing the results for additional players, it appears that these are NOT two
isolated instances of this inviting bug!
Rerun anyone? Or is it too late?

Just a few additional examples of players with multiple invites only visiting
one school:
36 Heiskell (Loyola Marymount)
48 Cash (Texas AM)
49 Moran (Minnesota)
60 Brouillard (Minnesota)
95 Jacklin (Maryland)
392 Hopkins (Maryland)
or being invited by multiple schools and not visiting ANY:
13 Teal
50 Churchill
What's really bad is that many of these guys (and it appears that there are
quite a few other examples) are "no-region" players and therefore cost Tier 3
teams a crucial "totally wasted" recruiting point that they were not
compensated for.

I've had that happen to me before and just figured that the guy REALLY wanted
to go somewhere else.
For what it's worth, I think that the scholarship offers must be honored in the
recruiting round if they were there for inviting. They'll still sign for zero
points, though.

I did know that a player would sometimes turn down an invite, but I was not
aware that he would turn down a DOZEN or more invites, including several
scholarships, and then simply "walk on" for another school (without a
scholarship).
Andy, however, e-mailed me tonight and verified that this is indeed true. Just
another kick in the butt for all you unfortunate lower tier programs out there,
especially when you spend an extra recruiting point on the invite!

Apparently Searle liked my coaching style or something, ;)
Maybe because he was in region for me it held more sway.
I just like the fact that I signed three guys today with only one point to
spend and two scholarships.

I was surprised when Heiskell was only visiting me (Loyola Marymount).
Although, since he was a senior, I figured maybe no one else was interested.
Even though he didn't require the scholarship (since only visiting me), I gave
it to him anyway since he was senior and I'll get it back next season. I
didn't want to take a chance and miss out. NOTE: He was not a redshirt senior.
I've made the mistake in the past of not offering a scholarship to a redshirt
senior and not realizing that they will NOT sign without one (that's why they
left their last school).
