This guy is my starting SF on my CBA Chicago team:

458 E.Estrada SF 28 5 8 6 5 1 10 1 19 99 6' 9" A A SF

He's in the lineup cause he pulls down mad rebounds. Problem is, he thinks he's
some kind of mad bomber. Despite his 10 SH, he has a miserable shooting %
outside the arc . . . and yet he keeps on launching treys.

I tried designating him as a handler, Ive set his shooting depth to SF, and
still he takes too many three-pointers for my liking.

Im wondering if setting him as a Rebounder would stop the bricklaying madness;
but I have no experience using that setting. If I set him as a rebounder,
should I set his PD to C or PF? If he is out of the offense, will my SG start
launching more bombs? That wouldnt be a bad thing . . .

The help pages arent too instructive on how to best use Rebounders. Anyone have
any experience with this?

Yes, though my experience is in college, setting him as a rebounder should
reduce his shooting dramatically. He will be taken out of the offense and so
will almost never shoot, and won't go to the line as often either. If he is a
good rebounder then you are playing to his strength. Since he won't be
shooting, others on your team will by definition should be taking more shots.
There is only one way to find out though...

I also find that it depends on how you set your game strategy. If you have it
set to shoot inside more that will cut down on the perimeter players and
concentrate more on your post players. Have you tried him out set to a PG/PG
depth?

Send him to me...I will let him shoot his way out of his slump!

Jian, I have him set for PG SD, didnt dare put him at PG PD for fear of losing
his rebounding . . .

My shooting is set to Inside/Slight the majority of the time, and dont want to
mess with that for various reasons.

His number of attempts might be due to how other teams are playing your team.
I noticed that during his higher attempts a lot of teams are pressing/trapping
more which usually results in the guards/perimeter players attempting more
shots. I looked at some of your games against LA Clippers, Miami, Atlanta, New
York, and Boston.

I won't completely take him out of your offense. Regardless of what you do
don't send him to the Clippers ;)

Outside shooters have frustrated me over the years quite a bit. Its the first
thing I'd like to see adjusted. The percentages are way too low.

I wouldn't set him as a rebounder though.

Question... how do the other guards on your team shoot? If they all stink you
might find that the sim compensates by making him shoot even more.

Red, his height may be hurting you, especially if he's being covered by smaller
players.

He's be an interesting guy to play at center or power forward. That way he's
probably attract taller players.

My SGs are good, thats one of my problems. Id rather have the SG taking the
threes.

Hmmmmm. Set his POS to PF, PD to PF, SD to . . . PG? Is that what I should be
reading here?

Just an option. Move him to C or PF. Have him play at PF or C distance but
shoot from SG. If your small forward can also bomb from three your opponent
will be forced to put a big (PF or C) on an outside shooter.

Jian Lan did this in the IBA a few seasons ago and his power forward led the
league in three point percentage. I've also done it a couple times in the NABA
and it worked well.

Yeah, i think that guy was like a 1 Sc and 7 Sh. I think I had him set to
SF/SG depth (position/shooting). He shot over 40% from 3.

Red - My only concern with moving him to PF is who are you going to play at SF?
I don't know about Hiatt getting it done at SF but you can try him out.

Well this is how I worked it out:

P.Hiatt C 28 4 5 2 3 9 2 1 19 100 7' 0" C C C
E.Estrada PF 28 5 8 6 5 1 10 1 20 100 6' 9" A A SF
T.Dolenc SF 34 5 9 1 7 7 3 1 24 100 6'10" A A C

Dolenc will be fine at SF, he's always been an underachiever at C anyways.

The first game with this look went pretty well, especially for Hiatt:

Hiatt 1 23 17 10 0 0 10 7 0 3 4 0 3 1 27 C
Estrada 1 20 5 3 1 1 2 2 0 1 8 2 3 0 9 PF
Dolenc 1 24 6 3 0 0 4 1 1 1 3 0 1 1 7 SF

Estrada got his rebounds, Hiatt got tons of points and gave some useful
defense, and Dolenc played the invisible man like always.

dolenc reminds me of busser. i just could not figured him out. he's doing
much better in san antonio. he's had some monster games for them.
