Strangely, nobody besides me wanted this guy?

Yeah, hes not Patrick Ewing, but everyone can use height and reasonable
defense.
Anyways, I know I dont have to offer him a scholarship; but do I need to use
any points on him? More specifically, can I be reasonably certain he will sign
with me if I DONT use any points on him?
My thinking is, if I can sign him for nothing, I'll just make a separate group
for him with zero points and no schollies.
Sounds like a n00b question I guess, but Ive never had a situation where I had
no competition for a guy I actually wanted . . .

I also had three guys who are CB that I had no competition on my team page.
However, when looking at the invites page (which the link I will provide at the
end of this post) you see that is not always the case.

I am clueless why no one else would invite Travieso or Yustein. Heck, I view
them as better recruits than Auten overall.
Anyways, here it the link:

Red,
When the recruit ONLY visits your school, you should, in THEORY, get him with a
bid of ZERO points. This usually works for me. However, I have heard about
instances where other coaches did NOT get the guy with a zero bid. Personally,
I think that these might be urban legends. I recall a few instances where I
bid zero and did not sign a guy who only visited my campus, but I believe that
was because I gave the potential signee a low priority and I had already signed
my full quota of players by the time his name finally came up in the sim's
overall recruiting order. I do know that many coaches will place a bid of "1"
point on a recruit, even when he is only visiting their school, just to ENSURE
that he signs!

Actually the way I understand it and have experienced it is that you WILL get
the player as long as you recruit him AND have a roster spot available for him.
All you need to do is put him in a recruiting group by himself, spend 0
points, and you don't even need to put a priority number on it. Make sure your
recruiting group is set to sign 1.

It doesn't happen as much in CBEL or CCEL, but I get unopposed recruits in CMEL
with surprising regularity, and no you don't have to offer them a point.
I think most of the people who didn't get a guy they had unopposed didn't set
up their orders correctly to ensure it.

Two of my three uncontested recruits show that during the invite phase they
were lookingfor scholarships (Auten and Yustein). However, since I am the only
team on their list (Auten on my team page shows only me as the only school he
is visiting) will I get them without offering a scholarship? Just want to make
double sure on this. Thanks.

The "S" in inviting actually just means those recruits are more likely to be
swayed by a PT-promise; *every* recruit *wants* a scholarship.

Yes, you will get that player even without a scholarship. That is why the 's'
no longer shows up in the invites list on your roster page (the sim removes it
in these instances). When you are the only school that they are visiting it
means they will sign without a scholarship, even if you previously offered one
during invites.

The only way you don't get him is if you are full before his turn comes up. If
you have 4 slots and make group 1 3 players and group 2 1 player (him) then you
should not have a problem.
