Scouting Syracuse today.

the past two games he's played Matchup Zone, prior to that a few games in 2-3
zone, and one with Box and One.

what the heck?

If I did that it wouldn't work. Bob should not be able to juggle defenses
without any penalty- and if he's getting one, it's not enough.

This is why Coach Bob is a legend: he can change defenses on a whim and get
away with it!

OMG, He coaches over 200 teams. Give the guy a break, he's spread pretty thin.
So he bends the rules a bit...

200+ teams! The guy is amazing if you ask me.

And I thought Dee Holt was known for running a lot of teams!

You really can't Scout Bob- this kind of sucks.

@ W. Virgnia - Match Zn: 100%

S. Florida - 2-3 Zone: 61%
                  Box&1: 38%

Villanova - Match Zn: 25%
                  Box&1: 74%

Providence - 2-3 Zone: 100%

that is quite the advantage-

you can scout Bob, Bob will play the same defence against the team, so say you
play Team A coached by Bob, then you play Team B also coached by Bob, chances
are Team B would play the exact same defence. The only changes occur when there
has been a dramatic change in the scoring averages of players on your team

I don't see a problem with that particular Bob strategy...all of the defenses
are zones of one form or another.

I switch mainly between 2-3 and matchup, depending on whether the opponent has
a good outside shooter. If I wanted to spend more time, I'd probably throw a
box-and-1 in there on occasion.

Now, it has been said that he switches between man and zone at times and I
don't think that should be very effective.

except if you play matchup and switch to 2-3 zone

it should be around 80% efficiency, and you'd never get both over 90%
(especially with Box and 1 mixed in). - I'm sure it's not.

Just did my 'view orders'...

Straight effectiveness: 70%
Double Inside effectiveness: 70%
Double Medium effectiveness: 70%
Double Perimeter effectiveness: 70%
Double Player effectiveness: 70%
2-3 Zone effectiveness: 94%
2-1-2 Zone effectiveness: 84%
3-2 Zone effectiveness: 84%
Match Zone effectiveness: 96%
Box&1 effectiveness: 84%

Due to have very little talent and very little time, I have played exclusively
2-3 and matchup zone throughout the season.

I think the sim assumes that I should be generally better at the other zone
defenses than I would be with any Man defenses.

thats a good reason to play zone..

as all those "double" options for man don't ever seem to work very well- as
documented on other posts
