Bottom of inning 1
Pitcher: James
Defensive switch: Tonich to SS; Munoz to 3B

I don't get it - I have Tonich who plays IF, listed at 3B
against LHP. Munoz, a SS, is put at (surprise!) SS against
LHP. On my defensive substitutions list Munoz is higher than
Tonich. So what gives? Why did the sim make my SS play out
of position at 3B?

Here is my team

Check my first game against Oklahoma.

Defensive Substitutions
7971 L.Munoz switch with 518 C.Tonich (1)

I don't know, but that was would have been a good game to watch, and Florida
is one of my early favorites to win the national championship.

Konrad -- It's the games way of thinking you are making a huge mistake
defensively.

Fair enough but why am I making a mistake to begin with? Tonich has Df = 4,
Munoz has Df = 6, they both have the same Ar = 1. Tonich has higher speed (6 to
Munoz's 4) but I still don't get it why the SIM would want a worse defender at
SS.

I removed Tonich from my defensive substitutions list, I'll see what happens.
Andy, if you are is reading this - could you please help?

Only a guess, but perhaps the defensive substitutions list is similar to the
pinch hitting list, where your starters who you don't want removed for a pinch
hitter should appear on the list of other players available for ph duty.

This is not the case because both players are starters against LHP - so has
little similarity to pinch hitting. When I had the both on the defensive subs
list the SIL switched them. Now I removed Tonich but it didn't help.

So, explain this one:

7th inning:
Hoffman will take over in 2B for Michigan.
Defensive switch: Hoffman to 1B; White to 2B

Opponent's LHP who started the game is still pitching, so one would think the
LH defensive assignments would be used. Looks like the RH assignment was used
instead, since White is not listed at 2B for LHP but is listed there for RHP.
Hoffman should come in (he is listed as 4th IF in my defensive sub list) and
the correct player was replaced (2B), but the switcheroo is curious.

T.White IF So 7 5 1 8 1 4 4 2 15 R R
J.Hoffman IF Jr 7 5 9 5 4 6 2 1 12 R R

If it somehow thinks White 'should' be better at 2B, that would be news to me
since Hoffman is much better on Df and Sp.

If there has been a change to how the sim handles this, well that would also be
news to me.
