Bored with the 3 baseball leagues im in now, ready for something new, so
thought maybe CMEL may be worth a shot. I think I first started on the site in
CMEL about 13 years ago, my record says 142-97 so I must have had some clue
what I was doing.
Having done the pro leagues forever, would it be tough to jump to CMEL? Do you
have to have a different mindset? WHen does next season start? any thoughts are
apprecaited

Mike - I took the plunge last season. I wanted to see if I could take the worst
team in CMEL and get them to a conference championship and then work my way
through the next tier the same way.
The first season was painful but we hit my goal of 10 wins and although we
finished dead last we actually were not on the bottom for a while.
To answer your question I think it takes a different mindset. you have to
recruit and your pitching staff and the use of them is different as you can
play a 4 man rotation or even 3 if you work it correctly.
Best of luck -

This would be the IDEAL time for you to get on the signup list for CMEL. We are
just about ready for the postseason.
Of course you'll have fun. ;)

I agree with Chris.
I enjoy CMEL because there are some fun rivalrys and finances arn't involved,
um, not supposed to be anyway.

Is CMEL for you? Alas, no. CMEL is mine. Mine, I tell you. MINE!
MINEMINEMINEMINEMINEMINEMINEMINEMINEMINEMINEMINE! ;-)
There, now I feel better. Just trying to get fired up before this evening's
conference championship game. CMEL might be the toughest championship to win
in DEL (four rounds of double-elimination anyone?). Join the fun!

CMEL is the greatest, besides running a college program is a whole lot better
than running a pro team, I mean recruiting is the funnest part of it and being
able to call yourself a national champion one day if you are lucky enough!

Michael, cmel is the one league I constantly keep an eye on. I like the
baseball leagues all together, but college ball is the best.
You do run a diferent mindset. You can't cut scholarship players, so when you
hand out scholarships you have to be prepared to keep the player for 4-5
seasons. Also, with playing time promises, it makes it a little different.
Instead of having to juggle with layers making to much salary to send to the
minors (like in epbl), you have to juggle with players starting, even though
they may not be your best players. I ran into that this season, with several
awesome seniors that had to sit the bench because I overpromised some recruits.
Luckily, they held their own so it didn't kill me.
I think you would love cmel, and once you get to tier 1, head to the ACC!

Hey Tom, you've got your National Championship in the SEC, why not try to take
one from another conference as well?

I personally love checking on the ACC
Very good rivalrys there and minimal turnover.
