Take a look at these 3 guys from my DBL team (South Park) and their stats from
last season:

D.Innerarity 2B 26 2 8 4 10 10 7 2 2 20 R R 100 14 14 -- A A
P.Godding CF 22 0 6 9 7 8 9 2 1 17 R R 100 14 14 -- A A
N.Waalwyk C 27 3 8 0 7 7 6 4 1 19 R R 100 12 3 -- C C

573 AB, 33 HR, 63 BB, 0.262 AVG
561 AB, 33 HR, 72 BB, 0.246 AVG
603 AB, 25 HR, 87 BB, 0.255 AVG

Godding was a rookie, so its hard to say if last season was an anomaly. His
blazing speed could also help his AVG a little. But look at Innerarity and
Waalwyk from the previous season:

555 AB, 31 HR, 84 BB, 0.263 AVG (Innerarity)
480 AB, 23 HR, 71 BB, 0.310 AVG (Waalwyk)

Waalwyk has no business hitting .310. He's a right handed batter with 7
Contact. I'm definitely not complaining, since I'm getting great production
out of these guys, but this doesn't add up. There has to be more to the sim
than Ds, Co, and Pw that determines hitting ability. Am I crazy or does anyone
agree?

Hello Ryan,

Waalwyck's been very productive both seasons. While I wouldn't expect those
numbers from a player with a 7 Co, I suspect he's helped by his high Ds, and
intangibles. I hope he continues to be an over-achiever for you.

Regards,
Brian

I have had players like this.
I've also had guys with 10 contact hit .170
I think his discipline does help.
He'll probably hit at least .260 so that's definitely not bad.

I see so little consistency in batters.

I've seen Andy take a .300 and a .250 the next season and say he's a .275
hitter, and the variation is standard. But that doesn't do me much good.

Benn IF 31 10 5 2 9 3 7 3 1 20 R R 100 134 66 -- B B

Nunez SS 31 4 7 3 4 10 10 1 1 22 L L 100 110 92 -- C C

316 AB .203 avg 9 HR, 33bb
312 AB .221 avg 11 HR, 52bb

yes, the 4 contct guy is superior to the 9 contact in every way.

oh yeah... and Benn hit .297 two years earlier

In addition to Nunez, I've seen another 4 Co player put up much better numbers
in the majors than seems likely, and I always ask myself, "Self, how is that
possible?"

Perhaps the most valueable thing I've learned about the sim is to go with what
works, but there are some instances when the disconnect between attributes and
performance is very frustrating.

I just think there is a lot less difference in 4 and 9 then you would think.

Sort of how in football a 1 speed CB can cover a 10 speed WR on a post pattern
