Jeff,
Very good attributes for a draft pick. I'd be thrilled to take a player like
him in the third round! I hope he has a strong camp.

I agree great pick. I find that good hitters for some reason are drastically
over-looked at draft time. Not sure why, but I seem to end up with offensive
powerhouses in the mid rounds.
Of course it all depends on his camp, but for the third round you got my
favorite type of player. The slugger with discipline. Future firstbaseman if
he has a good camp.

Just to prove I am not lying ;) This is a guy he reminded me of who I drafted
in the third round. Other than the fact that Ross is an outfielder and a
switch hitter they are near twins at that point in their career.

LH or SW only - for some reason the sim seems to force RH hitters to hold the
wrong end of the bat when they go to the plate.

So, I shouldn't mention that I just looked at your team and counted about four
guys currently on either your big league or minor league roster that seem to
have been drafted by you and are R R hitters?
880 C.Tracey C 22r 3 8 4 8 4 6 1 2 18 R R 100 100 99 -- C C
1286 A.Nelson IF 23r 0 4 7 7 6 5 1 2 19 R R 100 92 30 -- C C
Do either of these two look familiar? Seems that a good part of your last
draft was dedicated to R R hitters even though you never draft them ;).
Not that it matters all that much, but it is a bit silly to say you would never
draft a righty in the mid to late rounds. If they are good enough I'll take
them anywhere.

Darren,
Wish I had time to debate you on this.
You keep drafting and putting RH hitters in your lineup. since your doing
research projects - how many RH hitters on my starting lineup? exactly...
You also neglect to mention that Nelson is batting a sparkling .201 in the
minors, and Tracey is generally used against LH pitchers.
Catcher is a different breed than other position players - i always like to
platoon my catchers - dont know for sure if its wise or not, but its how we do
things in theBlue Sox organization - therefore its wise to have a strong RH
hitting catcher because i can protect him from the RH pitching that dominates
the league.
Would love to continue the chat, but ive got to go and polish my 4 WBL
Championship rings - you dont have 4 of those do you?
Mind you i do have a confession - i didnt read that it was a 3rd round pick -
Lh or RH, thats a great 3rd round pick - my error there.
Have a nice day.
Blackie
Ps i also have a rule that i dont draft pitchers in the first round - and if
you look youll see ive even broken that rule of mine a few times too.
thing is we send in draft orders eh - and from time to time i dont always get
the guy id like, and hey, sometimes i just change it up like a poker game.
and Dust - its times like this id like to punch you in the face.

Blackie,
I know you like to spend a lot of your time polishing things, but you should
provide some clarity for Darren by letting him know that last time your club
went to the post-season. Maybe some RH hitters could help.

Brian

Hi Dale.
Normally, I'd say let this guy pitch in the minors but, there arn't really many
options on you're roster.
At some point, you'll probably be able to find a free agent to replace him.
Date: Sun Nov 25 16:25:44 2007
Sender: Mike Boofer
I'd say he was a fine pick, but I'd never taken or used him. I won't use a
right handed bat that has more power than contact. I've just not had success
with them, ever.
Third rounder that could pan out, but I'd say likely a journeyman or right
handed bat off the bench. Still plenty of 3rd rounders wash out so at least it
is someone.
Date: Sun Nov 25 20:18:50 2007
Sender: Joseph Zimmer
As for LH or RH batters- all things being pretty much equal I'll move the LH or
Switch hitter ahead of the RH on my draft list. But I usually will not move a
"C C" lefty ahead of a "C B" righty- unless his attributes are something that I
specifically need. I go for the more talented player- especially in the first
round. I don't know if that makes sense to anybody other than myself...
Personally, some of the greatest hitters that I've ever had have been
right-handed hitters. Plus, in the WBL, a few of your *MOST* dangerous hitters
are right-handed.

someone else.

If a team has an owner, but no draft orders, does BOB make a crappy pick, but
if a team is ownerless, BOB has a better chance of making a good pick?
Compare the player drafted first with the one taken fourth:

746 M.Chiasson P 21r 4 3 0 1 5 3 7 7 13 R R 100 19 19 -- C B

To be honest, I don't really watch which way the batter hits. I just put them
in my ranking system and let the chips fall where they may.
Of course, I always make sure to try to tweak my rotation when I have a series

To the point of the thread...that is a very good pick at that point in the

Several seasons back I got pretty lucky and had the #1 pick overall in IBL (RFA
signing). At the time I selected who I thought was easily the obvious choice-
pitcher, Milne. You know who was drafted at #6??? Zaroni! Milne didn't do much
after his first camp while Zaroni became an absolute stud! As a matter of fact,
Milne didn't do anything for his first 3 or 4 camps until finally becoming a
7-9 (ar-cn) a couple of seasons back. Now he's a 7-8 but still pitches like an
"A" rated 7-9 guy. I really think he'll return to great attrib's. BUT still...
uhhhh, Zaroni is THE man!
Brian, with that pick you're off to a good start in the IBL. I honestly hope
that he does well in camps and can be an immediate ace for you, bud.

Hey Joseph,
What did Zaroni look like in the draft? Did you have him near the top of your
board? Hahaha...I hope the Schacter/Chiasson thing doesn't have a similar
outcome to Milne/Zaroni!
IBL Portland eliminated WBL Montreal from DEL Cup a couple weeks ago (Curse you
Ryan!). Zaroni won the final game of the series. I looked at his attributes,
and didn't feel badly that my hitters did very little in the game...he's a
stud.

Brian,
I didn't post here for you to laugh at and poke fun of my pitcher! I DO like
him, OK?!!! He does give up too many HR's, though.
No, but seriously.... The best I remember most of attrib's were the same as
they are now for Milne- give or take a point here and there. I want to say that
he was a 7-7, maybe 8-7. Probably an 8-7 because i THINK that he was a B-A
while I'm quite sure that Zaroni was a C-B. It's been a while, and he didn't
draft him w.w. signing), but I think that I remember a PR put out by Ryan
saying that he had Zaroni #1 on his draft list- putting him ahead of Milne,
obviously. So I guess that he so something that I didn't.
