To save you from having to re-read rules, I'll post minor changes to the system
here.
This week, the following changes have been made:
*1 column shift left for a unit making a ground attack.
*1 column shift for both attackers (left) and defenders (right) in a city, as
well as 1-column shift when bombing ground units in a city.
*ground stacking limit raised from 8 corps to 10 (the only tangible chage from
shrinking of a corps from 100,000 to 75,000).

Airborne units that haven't moved since an airdrop can always combine with
attacks from other hexes, either against units in their own hex (if they
dropped into an enemy-controlled hex) or units in an adjacent hex.

The combat results table has some extra columns added (5, 20, 24). The reason
for adding the "5" row is so it takes three shifts to change a unit's combat
strength by a factor of two throughout the table (except at the very low end,
of course).

Air units damaged by air-air combat or anti-air fire may continue on their
missions. This avoids the odd situation in which two previously-damaged air
units are more effective than one undamaged one (of the same type), even though
they have identical combat strengths.

The effect of rivers on movement has been eliminated. (It may reappear in
certain seasons as a weather effect.)

Fortification rules have been changed. Instead of being printed on the map,
fortifications will be a military units with "1" and "2" sides to represent the
number of columns shifted. The three fortifications that constitute Maginot
line will be part of the French at-start units.
Fortifications cannot move, and a "2" fortification functions identically to
the current map marking except that it also contributes a 1-strength ground
unit defender. When that defender is damaged in ground combat, the
fortification (and the implicit 1-strength unit) is destroyed.
When building fortifications from scratch, the 1-strength fort is built, and
may be upgraded during a later turn.

A rule has been added that allows the splitting of armies into two corps or
combination of two corps (with the same status) into armies. This can be done
only at the start of the ground phase.

I've decided to eliminate 'prepared defensive positions' from the game, at
least for now. In my playtests of the France and Russia invasions, I sense
that the defenses are adequately helped by the one-column shift on all attacks
and that giving an additional shift would tip things too far in favor of the
defender.

Fortresses have been removed from the map, and are now represented by counters.
This has no effect on the France scenario, as the mapboard fortresses start
the game on the map, but allows countries to build fortifications during the
war.
